Beating the Winter Blues with Some Tunes
A great weekend in the county with album launches, handed down talks and concerts with Cherish the Ladies. The launch of Between Black and White (Idir Dubh is Bhán) in the round gallery of Siamsa Tíre was a wonderful event . A personal celebration for the performer, her family and the Siamsa Community. The tune selection was wonderful and the choice of percussive accompaniment very classy.

The performance of Cherish the Ladies in Listowel was a real treat for the full house in St. John's Theatre Listowel, with amazing dance performances by David Geaney and Seamus Ó Flatharta. I've never witnessed the floss being integrated with Irish dance steps before, what great fun. The selection of great tunes, new compositions and emotive songs made it a night to remember. Of course Joanie Madden's humour added to the fun of the night.

The weekend ended with the funeral of local fiddler Timmy O'Shea a stalwart of the music scene in Tralee. He will be deeply missed. x
